6 batches of Acuvue contact lenses to be recalled

Taipei-Johnson & Johnson Vision Care Co. has announced that it will recall 500 boxes of its Acuvue disposable contact lenses from the Taiwan market due to possible quality problems, Taiwan's Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) said Monday.

The company has released a notice announcing that six batches of its daily disposable contact lenses from the Acuvue brand will be recalled, the FDA said in a statement.

The notice said the problematic products were found to have irregularities from the manufacturer's production line on the surface of the lenses and in the lens solution, so the company decided to initiate a recall of the products in Taiwan, according to the FDA.

The products are the daily disposable contact lenses with lot numbers 3957490106, 3957490109, 3957500101, 3957500102, 3957500109 and 3957510105.

The FDA has not received any reports from consumers affected by the defective products, FDA official Chien Chia-hung (???) said.

Customers were advised to stop using the potentially defective contact lenses with the above-mentioned lot numbers and to request refunds or exchanges with the company via its consumer service hotline on 0080-112-7528 or its email service account on vision_care@vistw.jnj.com.
