Air Force to review missile malfunctions during drill

The ROC Air Force Command Headquarters has vowed to swiftly review a missile malfunction during a combat drill on Thursday. The Republic of China or ROC is Taiwan’s official name.

The Air Force is conducting a series of combat drills at its base in southern Pingtung county. On Thursday morning, a fighter jet fired a Sky Sword II air-to-air missile but the missile’s motor failed to ignite and it fell straight into the sea. The malfunction came on the heels of another incident on Wednesday, when a Hawk missile exploded off target.

Air Force Command responded to the incidents by saying that they will conduct a comprehensive and swift review. The HQ also said that all other training tasks were carried out successfully.
