Taipei--The weather around Taiwan on Thursday
will remain hot and mostly sunny, with daytime high temperatures
of 36 degrees Celsius expected for most areas, while Keelung, Taipei
and New Taipei could expect highs of 37 degrees, the Central Weather Bureau (CWB) forecast that day.
Brief showers or thunderstorms are likely in central and southern
Taiwan all day Thursday because of the influence of southwesterly
winds, while the weather in northern and eastern Taiwan will be sunny
with occasional showers forecast for mountainous areas in the
afternoon, according to the CWB forecast.
Ultraviolet radiation will remain high, reaching dangerous levels
around noon, the CWB said. It urged people to take precautions if they
must go outdoors and to stay hydrated.

Green Island and Orchid Island), as well as the outlying island of
Matsu are likely to experience gusty winds, while Taitung in
