An overseas study and internship program sponsored by the education ministry has proven to be a rewarding experience for thousands of Taiwanese students.
The program is part of the government's plan to encourage young people to connect with the rest of the world. So far, more than 21,000 students have gone abroad with the program. They have been sent to different parts of the world, including Singapore, Thailand, and Spain, to broaden their horizons.
On Monday, students were invited to share their experiences. One student who was an intern at the Singapore International Arbitration Center last year for six weeks said the experience enabled him to learn about the daily operations and the arbitration process. Another student who studied in Thailand for five months said the program gave him a better understanding of Thai culture and the local job market.
Another student who studied aquaculture in Spain said she learned about nutritional breeding and the aquaculture techniques of different countries.
