Former President Lee Teng-hui (???) was discharged from Taipei Veterans General Hospital on Sunday afternoon after a dizzy spell the previous night left him hospitalized, according to his office director Wang Yan-chun(???).
Chen Yun-liang (???), a doctor at the hospital, confirmed that Lee was discharged at around 3 p.m. after the hospital concluded that he was in a stable condition following a series of examinations.
The 93-year-old Lee was hospitalized Saturday night after experiencing low blood sugar, a fast heartbeat, chest tightness and dizziness after attending a fundraising dinner.
Lee first felt uncomfortable Saturday afternoon and barely ate anything at the dinner as he was busy interacting with other guests. This may have caused his blood sugar to fall too low, leaving him dizzy, the physician said.
Chen advised Lee to avoid activities that cause fatigue given his advanced age and said he should be particularly aware of low blood pressure and complications.
