Finance Minister Sheu Yu-jer said Wednesday that the finance ministry is considering making adjustments to Taiwan's tax system.
Sheu's words came after KMT legislator Lai Shyh-bao suggested changes to the current tax brackets at the Legislature. Lai said that the tax revenues have exceeded quotas for the last three years, and that the government should return the surplus to the public.
Sheu said that the finance ministry is already in the process of drawing up medium- and long-term plans for changing the tax system, though he said that no concrete proposals are yet on the table.
