Taipei-Temperatures in northern Taiwan are likely to drop to 13-14 degrees Celsius from Tuesday night into Wednesday with the arrival of the first continental cold air mass of the winter season, the Central Weather Bureau (CWB) said Monday.
As northeasterly winds strengthen Monday, the mercury will begin to fall, dropping to lows of about 14 degrees in the greater Taipei area and 13 degrees in coastal and rural areas by late Tuesday into early Wednesday, said CWB forecaster Cheng Chuan-fang (???).
In central and southern Taiwan, lows of 15-16 degrees can be expected, Cheng said.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, northern and northeastern Taiwan can also expect scattered showers as the cold wave is carrying a small amount of moisture, he said.
By Friday, another cold air mass will arrive, affecting the entire island over the weekend and bringing lots of moisture, Cheng said.
He forecast that Yushan (Jade Mountain) and Hehuanshan will see the first snowfalls of the winter with the arrival of the second cold wave.
