Taipei, A seasonal northeasterly wind and cloud formations heading north are forecast to bring cooler weather and the first snowfall of the winter in Taiwan’s high mountains next Monday, according to the Central Weather Bureau (CWB).
The wind system is expected to impact Taiwan late Friday night, sending the mercury down to 17-19 degrees Celsius in northern areas, 22-24 degrees in central and eastern parts of the country and 25-26 degrees in southern Taiwan on Saturday, the bureau said.
The lowest temperature on Saturday in northern Taiwan will be 15 degrees and 16-18 degrees across the rest of the nation, according to the CWB.
From Sunday to Monday, rain is expected in northern and eastern areas, the Hengchun Peninsula in the south and mountainous areas in central and southern Taiwan, the CWB forecast.
Temperatures around Taiwan are expected to rise from next Tuesday to Wednesday as seasonal northeasterly winds weaken, according to the bureau.
However, next Thursday and Friday, another seasonal northeasterly wind system is forecast to reach Taiwan and push down temperatures across the country, the CWB said.
