Seven Taiwanese fishermen whose boat was robbed by a Chinese boat on Thursday are safe. That’s according to the Coast Guard Administration on Friday.
The fishermen were robbed by Chinese nationals on an unnamed boat 113 nautical miles southwest of Qimei Township in outlying Penghu County at around noon Thursday.
The robbers, armed with knives, took nearly NT$200,000 (about US$6,600) from the boat.
The coast guard said the boat has resumed normal operations and the authorities have already notified China of the robbery.
