The foreign ministry has welcomed Japan’s decision to rename its representative office in Taiwan.
The office in Taiwan announced on Wednesday that it would change its name to Japan-Taiwan Exchange Association beginning January 1. It has been operating under the name Japan Interchange Association.
The foreign ministry says the new name reflects the purpose and nature of the office and shows that bilateral ties are moving in a positive direction.
