Taipei, Heavy rain brought by a southwesterly airflow is expected to hit eastern and southern parts of Taiwan Sunday, with the rainfall unlikely to ease until Wednesday, according to the Central Weather Bureau (CWB).
Rain was forecast for eastern Hualien and Taitung counties and southern Taiwan Sunday, with some areas set to receive heavy rain or extremely heavy rain, CWB forecaster Liu Pei-teng (???) said.
On Sunday evening, rainfall in southern Taiwan is expected to become extremely heavy rain or torrential rain, Liu said.
Temperatures across Taiwan will range from 29-32 degrees Celsius, CWB data showed.
This weather pattern will continue until Wednesday, when the rain will ease across Taiwan, but still continue in the south, Liu said.
The weather will not stabilize until early September, when high pressures over the Pacific become stronger, he said.
