Taipei–Most areas in Taiwan will see cloudy to sunny weather on Sunday, with daytime highs expected to hit 32-36 degrees Celsius, according to the Central Weather Bureau (CWB).
Western Taiwan and other mountainous areas could receive occasional thunderstorms or heavy showers in the afternoon, while eastern and southern Taiwan could have brief showers, the CWB said.
Temperatures will remain hot around Taiwan, with daytime highs to hit 34-36 degrees in western Taiwan, 33-34 degrees in eastern Taiwan, 32-34 degree on outlying islands, as well as 36 degrees or higher in the Taipei metropolitan area, the CWB said.
The bureau said the high temperatures will last until Saturday with occasional thundershowers in the afternoon.
Ultraviolet radiation levels could reach an excessive or a dangerous level, the CWB said, advising people to take precautions against sunburn and heat stroke and drink a lot of water when going outdoors.
