Taipei, There were a total of 43 winning receipts for the uniform invoice lottery’s two top prizes for July and August, the most in recorded history, the Ministry of Finance (MOF) said Monday.
There were a total of 22 winning receipts for the NT$10 million (US$344,838) special prize, and 21 for the NT$2 million grand prize.
The winning number for the NT$10 million special prize in the July-August uniform invoice lottery was 13362795, while the winning number for the NT$2 million grand prize was 27580166.
Of the NT$10 million winning receipts, the smallest purchase was NT$35 for bread at a 7-Eleven store in New Taipei’s Tucheng District, the ministry said.
The highest sum spent in a winning receipt was NT$81,000 to buy a new scooter in Dali District in Taichung.
For the grand prize winnings, a lucky 7-Eleven customer walked away with a NT$2 million prize after buying a tea egg worth NT$10, it said.
According to the MOF, the July-August draw saw the highest number of winners since the uniform invoice lottery was introduced in 2001.
The uniform invoice lottery system, which draws winning numbers every two months, was created to encourage consumers to collect receipts as part of the ministry’s efforts to prevent tax evasion by retailers.
