Kaohsiung MRT to provide additional services on New Year’s Eve

Taipei,  The Kaohsiung Rapid Transit System on Wednesday laid out plans to increase its services on New Year’s Eve and the day after, in anticipation of high demand.

Trains on the subway and light rail services will run more frequently, starting from 3 p.m. on Dec. 31, depending on the passenger volume, the Kaohsiung Rapid Transit Corporation (KRTC)said.

During peak hours, trains on the city’s two subway lines might run every 2.5 minutes, and those on the light rail every 7.5 minutes, it said.

In addition, service on the subway system will be extended to around 2 a.m. and will start again at between 4:55 a.m. and 5:28 a.m., the company said.

Similar adjustments will be made Dec. 24-25 on the subway and light rail systems, depending on the situation, the KRTC said.
