Korean restaurant chain Bornga to open branch in Taipei

Bornga, a Korean restaurant chain launched by South Korean celebrity chef Paik Jong-won, will open its first Taiwanese branch in Taipei this Friday.

In a statement, the restaurant brand said it had brought in Korean chefs to train the staff of the new store, which will be located along Taipei’s Civic Boulevard near Dunhua South Road.

The restaurant will feature Bornga’s custom sauces and many of its signature dishes, including “woo samgyup,” or thinly-sliced beef brisket marinated in a special sauce, the restaurant chain said.

Paik, 56, is a well-known celebrity chef and restaurateur, as well as the star of the recent Netflix series “Paik’s Spirit,” in which he hosts Korean celebrities for conversations over drinks and a meal.

According to its website, Bornga has over 50 restaurants across Korea, as well as international branches in China, Indonesia, Singapore, Japan, Malaysia, the Philippines, Vietnam, Australia, and Thailand.
