Taipei--Nearly four kilograms of amphetamine has been seized by Taitung County authorities, making it the largest haul of illegal drugs ever busted in the last 10 years in the eastern Taiwan county, Taitung police announced Thursday.
Before the 3.9 kg of amphetamine was found in a raid carried out a day earlier, four suspects had been arrested in a mission that took place in May last year, Yu Cheng-ting (???), deputy head of the Taitung County Police Bureau's Criminal Investigation Corps, said at a news conference.
Although only 166.9 grams of the drug was seized in May along with the four suspects, and one of whom, surnamed Lin, claimed that the rest had been sold, prosecutor Teng Ting-chiang (???) said he was highly skeptical of Lin's claim and asked the Taitung police to continue their investigation.
After more than a year of investigation between Taitung and Taichung, police from the two locations finally found the stash in a neighborhood in Dajia, Taichung, where Lin rented a house, as well as a modified gun with three bullets, according to Yu.
