A magnitude 6 earthquake occurred off Taiwan's southeastern coast close to midnight Thursday, with an intensity of 5 being felt in Taitung County's Green Island, according to the Central Weather Bureau.
There were no reports of injuries.
The epicenter of the earthquake was located at about 31 kilometers to the east of Taitung City, at a depth of 20 kilometers.
The tremor was felt as far as in Taipei City, where the intensity was 2.
An intensity of 4 was felt in Taitung City and 3 in Pintung, Kaohsiung, Tainan, Hualien, Yunlin and Chiayi.
