Taipei, Oct. 7 (CNA) The weather in Taiwan is expected to be moist and cool on Sunday due to the effects of northeasterly winds, with the temperatures to drop to 22-24 degrees Celsius around the island, the Central Weather Bureau (CWB) forecast.
Because of northeasterly winds, the windward areas north of
Taoyuan, Keelung's coastal area and Yilan in northeast Taiwan will receive showers on Sunday, while Hualien and Taitung in the east and Hengchun Peninsula in the south are expected to get sporadic rain, CWB forecaster Lin Ting-yi (???) said.
Central Taiwan's mountains and the flatland in the south will have afternoon thunder showers, Lin said.
Temperatures will drop to 22-24 degrees Celsius around Taiwan, with the highs to stand at 26-28 degrees in the areas north of Taoyuan, Keelung's coast and Yilan, while they will range between 29-32 degrees in other areas.
Lin advised people living in central and southern Taiwan to be aware of temperature differences.
The winds will continue to blow through Taiwan until Monday, and another wave of northeasterly winds will arrive on Wednesday, when Taiwan will observe its National Day, with the weather expected to be moist and cool again, Lin said.
