Taipei, Chunghwa Telecom Co., one of the leading telecom services providers in Taiwan, said Wednesday that it will start selling the two newly released Apple Watch models next week.
Consumers will be able to buy the Apple Watch Series 6 and the more affordable Apple SE model at some Chunghwa Telecom outlets across Taiwan, from Sept. 22, the company said.
On Tuesday, Apple Inc. unveiled its two smartwatch models worldwide, along with its 8th generation iPad and new iPad Air.
In Taiwan, the Apple Watch Series starts at a price of NT$12,900 (US$440) and the Apple Watch SE at NT$8,900.
Chunghwa Telecom said it will launch a service program Thursday that will assign a phone number to each Apple Watch user. With the designated phone number, Apple Watch owners will be able to access the Family Setup service, which is especially designed for the two new Apple Watch models, the company said.
The Family Setup service allows tighter parental controls and gives location alerts that make it easier for family members to keep track of each other, Chunghwa Telecom said.
The Family Setup also makes it possible for the entire family to benefit from the health and safety features of the Apple Watch, such as Emergency SOS, according to Apple.
The Apple Watch Series 6, meanwhile, has a new feature that monitors blood oxygen levels, giving a reading in just 15 seconds via an updated sensor on the back of the device, according to Apple.
