President Horacio Cartes of Paraguay will visit Taiwan this month. The foreign ministry made the announcement on Tuesday.
The visit is intended to mark the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between his country and Taiwan. President Cartes’ delegation will include the head of Paraguay’s supreme court and several members of the cabinet. The delegation will visit from July 11th to 13th. The anniversary is on the 12th and will be marked by a number of events, including a state banquet.
The visit will be President Cartes’ third to Taiwan since he took office in 2013.
The foreign ministry said Taiwan and Paraguay have longstanding cooperation in the areas of trade, medicine, education, agriculture and military affairs.
