Taipei--An unexpected power outage hit about 500 households in Zaoqiao Township, Miaoli County at 6:42 a.m. Thursday, possibly because an animal or bird touched a power cable, but it was unrelated to the nationwide blackout that occurred two days earlier, according to Taiwan Power Co. (Taipower).
Power was restored at 7:35 a.m. after emergency repairs were carried out, said Chang Wen (??), a division chief at Taipower's Miaoli office.
Tuesday's massive blackout occurred when an operational error by state-owned CPC Corp. (??) at 4:51 p.m. caused power generation at the Tatan gas-fired power plant in Taoyuan to be temporarily interrupted, leaving 6.68 million households around Taiwan without power.
