President Tsai Ing-wen (???) will visit Taiwan's diplomatic allies in Central America in January, including Nicaragua, Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) said Tuesday.
As part of the nine-day trip, which starts on Jan. 7, Tsai will attend the inauguration of Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega, who won re-election in November, according to the ministry.
While the president is expected to make a transit stop in the Untied States en route to Central America and on her way back, the ministry declined to name the cities, saying that arrangements were still be worked out and the details will be announced next week.
