Taipei--Days of heavy rain in central and southern Taiwan is expected to ease up on Tuesday as the southwesterly air flow brought in by Typhoon Nesat and Tropical Storm Haitang begins to weaken, the Central Weather Bureau (CWB) said.
The bureau warned, however, of the possibility of landslides, mudflows and falling rocks in mountainous areas, where soil has been loosened by abundant rainfall over the past few days.
In northern and eastern Taiwan, partly cloudy to sunny weather is expected Tuesday, with brief downpours likely in the afternoon in mountainous areas, according to the CWB.
Maximum daytime temperatures are forecast to range between 31 and 33 degrees Celsius in central and southern Taiwan and from 33 to 35 degrees in the northern and eastern parts of the country, the bureau said.
