Keelung's Environmental Protection Bureau (EPB) will be starting a rodent eradication campaign on the 24th of October, ending on the 30th. During this period the public can pick up free poisoned rodent bait from their local district office.
To dispose the remains of rodent and poisoned baits, place them in bags then hand it over to the EPB's cleaning unit. This is to prevent environmental contamination and accidental deaths of Grass Owl and Black Kite from ingesting the poisoned remains.
The key to stopping rat infestation is prevention. Maintain a clean environment by removing unused furniture, clearing out gutters, storage rooms and cupboards, and keep rubbish in sealed containers. It is also important not to put out too much pet food as leftover pet food attracts rodents.
