South Korea becomes popular destination for Taiwan students

The widespread affinity for Korean pop culture has made South Korea a popular graduation trip destination for students from Taiwan and Hong Kong . South Korea now sees Taiwan and Hong Kong as its second biggest market for tourists.

Between January 1 and April 13, more than a thousand students from Hong Kong and Taiwan visited South Korea on graduation trips. That's an increase of more than 600 over last year's figures. The South Korean government's goal is to attract over 3,000 students to come to South Korea this year.

Although there has been an increase in interest from Taiwan, the number of students visiting South Korea from Japan has been dropping since 2012.
