Taipei, A shelter for stray cats was opened in Taipei on Sunday, as part of a wider program to provide at least 45 such facilities by the end of year, according to the city’s Animal Protection Office.
The city’s first stray cat shelter, in Zhongshan District’s Heng’an Village, will help people in the area protect and take care of cats, the office said.
By the end of the year, Taipei will have about 45 cat shelters, in an effort to make the city more animal-friendly, the office said.
Under the Taipei Cat Care Programme, the shelters will be built in Wanhua, Datong, Zhongzheng, Wenshan, Shilin and Beitou districts, the office, adding that it will hold family fun events to decorate them.
