Taiwan appoints new representative to Spain

Taipei, The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) has appointed Vice Foreign Minister Jose Maria Liu (???) as Taiwan's new representative to Spain, according to a statement released by the ministry Friday.

Liu, who served as Taiwan's ambassador to Paraguay and Panama from 2011-2015 and 2015-2017, respectively, before taking over as vice minister of foreign affairs, will replace Ko Shen-yeaw (???), who is retiring, according to MOFA.

Taiwan's representative to Peru, Miguel Li-jey Tsao (???), will fill the vacancy at the ministry's headquarters left by Liu, the MOFA statement said.

Tsao, an expert in Spanish, has previously served as Taiwan's ambassador to Panama and director-general of the MOFA's Department of Latin American and Caribbean Affairs.

MOFA spokesman Andrew Lee (???) said the changes are part of normal personnel rotations in the ministry.
