A farm product fair kicked off in Taiwan’s outlying Kinmen County on Saturday with about 100 exhibitors displaying a wide range of agricultural products from Taiwan proper and its three outlying counties.
The five-day Taiwan farm product fair from Oct. 1-5 was organized by the Kinmen County government and the Northern Taiwan and Central Taiwan Regional Development Promotion Committees.
Thirteen of Taiwan’s 22 counties and cities were invited to promote their local farm products at the fair, which was being held for the first time ever in Kinmen, a group of islands located less than 10 kilometers off the coast of southeastern China.
The 13 participating counties and cities are Taipei, New Taipei, Taoyuan, Taichung, Keelung and Hsinchu cities and Hsinchu, Miaoli, Changhua, Nantou, Kinmen, Lienchiang and Penghu counties.
The organizers of the farm product fair said they hoped the event will attract visitors from China, which is now observing a week-long National Day holiday that started on Oct. 1.
They also hoped the show will develop into a regular event that takes place every weekend so that Kinmen can emerge as a new “bright spot” in the marketing of Taiwanese agricultural products.
