Hanoi-Taiwan accounted for the fourth largest number of overseas visitors to Vietnam in 2017, with 616,232 Taiwanese nationals visiting the country during the year, according to data from the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism.
Vietnam attracted a record 12.9 million visitors in 2017, up 29.1 percent from the year before, the figures showed.
The top four sources of international travelers to Vietnam were China (4.01 million), South Korea (2.41 million), Japan (798,119) and Taiwan (616,232).
The number of Taiwanese travelers to Vietnam in 2017 increased by 21.5 percent from 2016, administration data showed.
According to an official from the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, visa-free and electronic visa programs have had a notable effect in promoting tourism in the country.
