Taiwan's Presidential Office says that the military and national security officials are monitoring North Korean movements following an early morning ballistic missile test on Sunday.
The news of the test came via South Korea, where security officials held an emergency meeting about the launch on Sunday morning. South Korean officials say that this is the first such missile test this year, following an unprecedented number of tests last year.
In Taipei, Presidential Office spokesperson Alex Huang said that the government condemned any attempt to threaten regional peace and stability.
Huang also called on North Korean authorities to abide by relevant UN Security Council resolutions and immediately cease any actions that undermine regional security.
