Taiwan, US generals could begin information exchanges

The US Congress held a discussion on Tuesday on the 2017 National Defense Authorization Act. If the act passes, it would permit exchanges with high ranking military officers from Taiwan.

The definition of exchanges means US military personnel and Pentagon officials would be able to exchange information on military activities and training with Taiwan's military personnel and defense officials.

Exchanges would include information on threat analyses, military theories, troop training programs, backup support, intelligence gathering and analyses, mission plans, technical procedures, humanitarian aid and disaster relief.

The House of Representatives is expected to have a resolution by Friday and the Senate will vote on the act five days later.
