Taipei--Taiwanese people spend an average of 7.3 hours per week watching online video programs per week, with one in four spending more than 12 hours per week watching them, according to the results of a recent survey.
The Institute for Information Industry (III) survey finds that watching online films has become part of the daily life of people under the age of 44. Twenty-five percent of those in the 25-34 age group spend more than 12 hours per week watching online videos and 56 percent of those in the 35-44 age bracket spend over 5 hours per week doing so.
The best-known brand name for on-line video lovers is iQIYI.com, with 94.7 percent of those polled knowing the name, followed by KKTV, that is known to 75 percent of the respondents, said the III's Innovative Digi-Tech-Enabled Applications & Service Institute, which conducted the survey.
The survey further finds that Netflix enjoys the highest customer loyalty, with 42.3 percent of subscribers expressing interest in continuing to subscribe. myVideo, of Taiwan Mobile, comes next with a 31.3 percent customer loyalty rate.
Great varieties of content is the biggest reason for these platforms' attraction to customers, the III Institute said. To boost their future business, the institute recommended exclusive broadcasting or production of films of original content.
