Taiwan’s Tai reaches women’s singles final at French Open

Paris, Oct. 27 (CNA) Taiwanese badminton ace Tai Tzu-ying (???) cruised into the women's singles final at the 2018 YONEX French Open Saturday after defeating her Chinese opponent.

Tai, ranked number one in the world for women's singles, routed world No. 5 Chen Yufei (???) of China 18-21, 21-12 and 21-14 in a match that lasted 59 minutes.

Prior to Saturday's victory, Tai had secured all victories against Chen in their previous 11 encounters, according to online records of the Badminton World Federation (BWF).

Tai will face world No. 3 Akane Yamaguchi of Japan in the final on Sunday.

The total prize money for the 2018 edition of the Yonex Internationaux de France de Badminton (IFB) was US$750,000. The winners of the men's and women's singles title will each receive US$52,500.

The 24-year-old Taiwanese badminton star was crowned the women's singles champion at the 2017 Yonex IFB.
