Temperature in Taipei hits year’s high of 35.9 degrees

Taipei--The temperature in Taipei hit 35.9 degrees Celsius at 12:10 p.m. on Saturday, setting a new high in Taiwan's capital city since the beginning of this year, according to the Central Weather Bureau.

As of around 2 p.m., the highest temperature for the day around Taiwan had occurred in Chiayi, southern Taiwan, where the mercury climbed to 36 degrees at 13:16, the bureau said.

The highest temperature in northern Taiwan was 35.9 degrees in Banqiao, New Taipei, although a high of 36.2 degrees was recorded there on June 26, it noted.

The bureau reminded the public to take precautions against sunburn and to stay hydrated to fend off heatstroke.
