In January and December, the number of employed people was 11.48 million, an increase of 6,000 or 0.05% per month. The average number of employed people in the year was 11.43 million, an increase of 82,000 or 0.73% compared with the previous (106) years.
Second, the number of unemployed in December was 436,000, a decrease of 5,000 or 1.09% per month. The average number of unemployed people in the year was 440,000, an annual decrease of 3,000 or 0.70%.
Third, the number of non-labor workers in December was 8.24 million, an increase of 5,000 or 0.07% per month. The average number of non-labor workers in the year was 8.24 million, which was the same as the previous year.
In April and December, the labor force participation rate was 59.09%, a monthly drop of 0.02 percentage points; the annual labor force participation rate averaged 58.99%, an increase of 0.16 percentage points.
In May and December, the unemployment rate was 3.66%, down by 0.04 percentage points. After adjusting for seasonally varying factors, the unemployment rate was 3.70%, up 0.01 percentage points from the previous month. The annual unemployment rate was 3.71% on average, down 0.05 percentage points year-on-year.
