President Tsai Ing-wen said her administration will continue to support Taiwan's teachers by pushing through pension reform. She was speaking at this year's National Teachers' Award ceremony.
During the ceremony, Tsai presented National Teachers' Awards to 72 recipients. She said she has the deepest respect for teachers who bear the responsibility of educating Taiwan's next generation with enthusiasm and sincerity.
Tsai said that the government will do its best to support the teachers. She said the education ministry has plans to simplify the evaluation process in order to free teachers from unnecessary admin work and to allow them to focus on teaching.
Tsai also said that she will push through pension reform to ensure that teachers can focus on their work without having to worry about life after retirement.
