The mayor of Taipei, Ko Wen-je, says the next two months will be a time for final preparations and getting the country warmed up for August's Universiade.
The mayor arrived back in Taiwan on Thursday. He had been in Turin, Italy, to attend the lighting of the torch for this year's student Olympics.
Ko said, "We will also use this period of time to look at any issues with the venues that we have discovered in practice events and address them. We have around two months of time remaining for us to make the final preparations for the Universiade."
The torch relay for the Universiade will proceed through Italy, Thailand and South Korea before arriving in Taiwan. The torch will visit each part of the country before arriving back in Taipei for the start of the games on August 19. Athletes from over 150 countries will compete at this year's games.
