Two Vietnamese workers killed in Taoyuan factory fire

Taipei-A fire broke out early Thursday at a solar window film plant in Taoyuan’s Luzhu District, killing two Vietnamese migrant workers and leaving four unaccounted for, according to the Taoyuan Fire Department.

The fire broke out at around 2 a.m. on a staircase leading to a dormitory on the second floor of the building that houses 12 Vietnamese workers, one of whom was not present at the time, firefighters said.

Of the 11 affected Vietnamese workers, five were rescued and taken to hospital, while two were confirmed dead.

As of press time, firefighters were still searching for the other four missing workers.

The fire department dispatched 107 firefighters and 43 ambulances and fire fighting trucks to the incident.

The fire was eventually brought under control at 6:10 a.m. and firefighters began an investigation into the case.
