Warnings for Typhoon Megi lifted

The Central Weather Bureau lifted the land warning for Taiwan proper at 8:30 Wednesday, after Typhoon Megi swept through all parts of the country overnight.

The bureau, however, warned that the outlying Kinmen, Matsu and Penghu islands must stay in full alert as strong rain and gusty winds persist in those areas.

The storm, which has entered the Fujian Province in China, leaves 5 killed and more than 300 injured in Taiwan.
