Taipei, March 30 (CNA) Weather during the upcoming four-day weekend does not look too bad after all as cold but mostly dry conditions are expected to last from Saturday afternoon through next Tuesday, the Central Weather Bureau said Thursday.
Rain is expected to fall Friday with the arrival of a weather front followed by a continental cold air mass, the bureau said.
The precipitation will likely be persistent mainly during the latter half of Friday and the first half of Saturday, the bureau said, adding that there would be some thunder showers and heavy rain in some local areas, it said.
Snow could fall in Yushan and Hehuanshan on Saturday, the bureau said.
The rain is expected to diminish late Saturday but due to the impact of the cold air mass, temperatures could drop to 12 to 13 degrees in regions to the north of central Taiwan early Sunday, it said.
From Sunday through next Tuesday, most areas are expected to see cloudy to sunny weather with only Hualien and Taitung Counties in eastern Tawian likely to have sporadic brief showers.
For Thursday, the forecast said that the warm and dry conditions over the last few days would continue, with temperatures going up to 26 or 27 degrees in northern and eastern Taiwan and 29 to 31 degrees in central and southern Taiwan.
A change in the weather will begin Friday morning, when some local rain will fall first, followed by more persistent precipitation, the bureau said.
