Taipei: Taiwan High Speed Rail Corp. (THSRC) announced plans to add 191 train services during the upcoming Tomb Sweeping Festival holiday, with ticket bookings available from 12 a.m. Thursday.
According to Focus Taiwan, this year's Tomb Sweeping Festival holiday spans four days from April 3-6. To accommodate the anticipated surge in travelers, THSRC will implement a six-day special service schedule from April 2-7. The schedule will include 73 southbound and 118 northbound additional train services, making the total number of train services 1,162 over the six-day period.
Tickets for travel during the holiday will be available for purchase starting March 5. Passengers can secure their tickets through THSRC's online booking system, partner convenience store ticketing services, the T-EX mobile app, as well as station ticket counters and automated ticketing machines.
To further assist travelers, THSRC will schedule 13 trains with delayed final departures during the holiday period. These services will arrive at their terminal stations after midnight, with the latest reaching its destination at 1 a.m. Each of these trains will feature two non-reserved seating cars to accommodate additional passengers.
The company also plans short-term weekend service increases over three consecutive weeks from March 13-29. This initiative aims to serve passengers returning home early for tomb sweeping and to meet the travel demand generated by large-scale events across Taiwan.
