2 new storms in the western Pacific Ocean, no effect on Thailand

Two new storms : (1) Tropical Depression Jebi (#17:Jebi = South Korean Swallow) formed in the western Pacific Ocean, becoming the 17th tropical depression of the year. On September 30, it moved along the coast of Tokyo, Japan, causing heavy rain on the east coast and inland. On October 1 and 2, it dissipated in the sea northeast of Japan. (2) Typhoon Krathon (#18:Krathon-Thailand) formed in the Pacific Ocean off the northern Philippines, making it the 18th typhoon of the year. On October 30, it intensified into a Category 4 typhoon (strongest = 5), causing very heavy rain and strong winds in the northern part of the Philippi nes. October 1st and 2nd brought heavy rain and strong winds across Taiwan. October 2-3: Weakened to a Category 2 typhoon, moving northeastward. On October 4 and 5, it weakened into a Category 1 typhoon and made landfall in South Korea, causing very heavy rain.
