Kaohsiung Aquas’ Jason Brickman eyes back-to-back T1 LEAGUE titles

Filipino-American playmaker Jason Brickman will remain with professional T1 LEAGUE champions Kaohsiung Aquas for the 2022-2023 season as the club aims to win back-to-back titles, according to the Aquas Thursday.

The clutch point guard put up impressive numbers in the league’s inaugural 2021-2022 season as he was named the Most Valuable Import player, ranking first in the league in assists, as well as on the All-T1 LEAGUE First Team, the Aquas said in a statement.

Brickman led the league with an average of 10.3 dimes per game during the regular season as he helped the Aquas win the league championship in the T1 LEAGUE last season.

The 30-year-old 179-cm-tall point guard also averaged 13.6 points and 5.3 rebounds over 38 minutes and 13 seconds per game during the regular season, while also being named the Import of the Month for December.

“I chose to come back to the Aquas because it has been a very professional organization and I have enjoyed playing with this group of guys. I loved being in Taiwan and especially living in Kaohsiung,” Brickman said.

He wants to help his team repeat its success and win back-to-back championships, Brickman said.

Brickman won over many local basketball fans with his leadership and on-court magic that helped the Aquas enter the playoffs as the regular season’s top team and win the championship after a three-game sweep of the Taichung Wagor Suns in the playoff finals.

Having played for professional clubs around the world, the 30-year-old point guard also played for the Philippines-based San Miguel Alab Pilipinas in the 2019-2020 season of the regional ASEAN Basketball League, which was cut short because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Prior to playing with the Alab Pilipinas, he was on the roster of the Mighty Sports — Go for Gold team that clinched the 2019 William Jones Cup in Taiwan with an 8-0 record at Xinzhuang Gymnasium in New Taipei.
