Veteran screen performer Ma Chi-chin (馬之秦), who won a Best Leading Actress Golden Bell award for her starring role in the television series “Last Night Stars (昨夜星辰),” has died at the age of 80.
“Sis Ma left us peacefully this morning. Her family was with her, and she was grateful for all she had, for the wonderful journey she experienced,” Shih Li-min (施立民), a pastor at the Home of Christian Performing Artists, told CNA on Tuesday.
Ma had a storied career following her on-screen debut in 1959, winning Best Leading Actress at the 20th Golden Bell Award in 1985 for her performance in “Last Night Stars (昨夜星辰).”
Semi-retired in recent years, Ma’s last film appearance was in 2006’s “Silk (詭絲),” where she played the mother of “Dune” star Chang Chen (張震).
More recently, the veteran actress made a cameo in the TV series “The Love Song (大人情歌)” in 2016.
