Jisoo, a member of the popular K-pop girl group BLACKPINK, has been cast in Coupang Play's new zombie series, "Newtopia," the streaming service said Thursday. The series follows Lee Jae-yoon (Park Jung-min) and Kang Young-ju (Jisoo) as they navigate a perilous, zombie-infested Seoul. Jae-yoon faces a zombie outbreak during his mandatory military service, while his girlfriend, Young-ju, waits for his discharge. The script is co-written by Han Jin-won, known for his collaboration with director Bong Joon-ho on the Oscar-winning movie "Parasite," and Ji Ho-jin, who penned Disney+'s "A Shop for Killers." The series marks director Yoon Sung-hyun's first venture into television. He is known for his work on the coming-of-age film "Bleak Night" (2011) and the dystopian action thriller "Time to Hunt" (2020). "Newtopia" is slated for release next year. Source: Yonhap News Agency
