Taipei: The Executive Yuan on Thursday approved a plan to invest NT$500 million (US$15.36 million) over four years to help upgrade, transform and market local speciality industries. The initiative aims to foster economic growth by enhancing the operational capacity of local industries and promoting regional brands across Taiwan's 369 townships, cities, and districts. According to Focus Taiwan, the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) will spearhead the selection process for speciality industries nominated by various localities. The plan includes hosting national competitions to cultivate distinctive regional brands, thereby emphasizing the unique characteristics of different areas. This strategic move is designed not only to boost local economies but also to attract international tourists by showcasing Taiwan's diverse offerings. The initiative further outlines the MOEA's role in promoting these industries through strategic guidance and establishing connections with domestic and international marketing chann els. This effort seeks to balance urban and rural development, ensuring that the economic benefits are distributed evenly across the country. The government's investment from 2025 to 2028 reflects a commitment to enhancing local economic and social prosperity through collaborative promotional efforts between central and local governments.
