Cabinet approves extension of the announcement of secure areas for another year, from 1 Oct. 2024 to 30 Sept. 2025. Mr. Jirayu Huangsap, advisor to the Prime Minister, announced the results of the Cabinet meeting that the Cabinet approved the extension of the announcement period of the area where incidents affecting internal security of the Kingdom occurred in the areas of Yi-ngo, Su-ngai Kolok, Waeng and Sukhirin districts in Narathiwat Province, Yaring, Mai Kaen, Kapho, Mayo, Mae Lan, Panare and Thung Yang Daeng districts in Pattani Province, Betong, Kabang, Krong Pinang and Raman districts in Yala Province, and Nathawi, Chana, Thepha and Saba Yoi districts in Songkhla Province for another year, from October 1, 2024 to September 30, 2025. Because it is still necessary to use measures to solve or alleviate the incidents that affect the security in the said area, so that government officials can manage the area and maintain the security of the people in the area continuously and with maximum efficiency, in cluding the need to use measures according to Section 21 of the Internal Security Act B.E. 2551 to allow suspects who committed crimes due to misconduct or ignorance but changed their minds to surrender to officials by attending training as ordered by the court and complying with the conditions set by the court instead of taking criminal action, which is an opportunity for that person to change his ways, which is beneficial to maintaining internal security in the Kingdom.
