Taipei: China's newest aircraft carrier, the Fujian, transited the Taiwan Strait on Tuesday, as reported by Taiwan's Ministry of National Defense. The ministry confirmed the movement in a brief statement and assured that Taiwan's military is closely monitoring the Fujian using its joint intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance systems. According to Focus Taiwan, the ministry also released a surveillance photo of the Fujian, which showed no aircraft on its deck. However, details regarding the timing and location of the photograph were not provided. The Fujian, which is China's first indigenously designed aircraft carrier, was commissioned in early November 2025. It last made a similar passage through the Taiwan Strait in December 2025.
