Cold Air Mass Brings Rain and Cooler Temperatures to Northern Taiwan

Taipei: A cold air mass that arrived in Taiwan overnight will bring cool, wet weather to the north and northeast of the country throughout the day on Sunday, according to the Central Weather Administration (CWA). With the system's arrival, daytime temperatures are expected to remain around 16-18 degrees Celsius in the north, with highs of 21-24 degrees in the rest of Taiwan, the CWA said. According to Focus Taiwan, while rain is forecast across the north and northeast on Sunday, the heaviest and most consistent precipitation will be along the Keelung coast, Yilan, and in mountainous areas of Greater Taipei, the CWA said. Mostly cloudy to clear conditions are forecast for the rest of the country, the agency said. The cold spell is expected to ease beginning on Tuesday, when temperatures in the north will again rise above 20 degrees, with drier weather prevailing nationwide, CWA forecaster Chang Chung-chuan told CNA. The weather across Taiwan will remain warm, with mostly cloudy to clear conditions, from Tues day through the end of the month, as no additional cold weather systems are currently forecast, Chang said.
