Taipei: Taiwan's Central Weather Administration (CWA) announced on Sunday that while temperatures are expected to drop overnight and remain cold, a warming trend is forecast for the Tomb Sweeping Festival holiday weekend, which begins on Thursday.
According to Focus Taiwan, CWA forecaster Chen Pei-an indicated that cold air masses from China will continue impacting the northern, northeastern, and eastern regions of Taiwan. As a result, temperatures on Monday morning are anticipated to fall to 12-13 degrees Celsius in northern Taiwan, 13-14 degrees in central Taiwan, and 15-17 degrees in the southern part of the country.
The cold spell is expected to weaken by Tuesday; however, northeasterly winds will persist until Thursday, maintaining temperatures in the northern and central regions at approximately 15 degrees. Despite the ongoing cold conditions, Chen noted that temperatures are predicted to slowly rise, reaching highs of 17 degrees in the north and 26-28 degrees in central and southern Taiwan before Thursday.
Further improvements in weather conditions are anticipated starting Friday, the second day of the Tomb-Sweeping Festival holiday, with temperatures expected to exceed 20 degrees Celsius across the nation.
